Yapi (undisclosed) is on the bench for Wednesday's duel versus Minnesota United.
Analysis: Yapi has recovered quickly from an issue that forced him to exit last weekend's game against St. Louis. However, he's not starting this time, with Georgi Minoungou and Jackson Travis selected in wide attacking roles. Yapi has had a decent campaign so far, with both his three goals and two assists ranking second on the squad.
Exits match injured
Yapi registered two shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to St. Louis City SC. He was injured and subbed out in the 57th minute.
Analysis: Yapi only lasted 57 minutes before forced off with an injury. This was just his second start in a row, recording four starts through seven appearances, scoring once with seven shots. The forward will be day to day heading to the midweek clash with Minnesota on Wednesday.
Signs multi-year contract
Yapi has been signed to a new contract with Colorado Rapids as a U22 Initiative player until the 2028/29 season, with an option for 2029/30, the club announced Tuesday.
Analysis: Yapi has earned a place in his team's attacking midfield rotation over the last couple of seasons, recording some outstanding performances which have led to his new deal. Despite being 21 years old, Yapi already has significant experience in MLS, totaling 13 goals and six assists across 104 matches played (38 starts) since 2022. During the current campaign, he has scored three times and assisted twice in 626 minutes of play.
Starting right away
Yapi (undisclosed) is in the starting lineup for Saturday's trip to Houston Dynamo.
Analysis: Yapi wasn't forced to miss any game with the injury he sustained midweek in US Open Cup action, and he even made the starting lineup for the second straight contest in all competitions. He might now remain in contention with Georgi Minoungou for an attacking midfield spot. If given meaningful opportunities, Yapi will look to improve on his MLS season tallies of three goals and two assists over 10 matches played.
